APPLICATION PROCEDUREGENERAL STIPULATIONS1. RAMEC-USU of Urals State University invites students to full time course in master program "Applied economics" (specialty 521600 "Economics"). 2. RAMEC-USU invites Russian Federation Citizens with the state bachelor, specialist or master diploma. Applications from CIS and other countries will be reviewed by RAMEC-USU selection committee on an individual basis. 3. RAMEC-USU offers budget-financed places and extra places with paid tuition on contract basis for individuals and enterprises. Budget-financed places are available for students with bachelor diploma entering third-level professional educational program (master courses). APPLICATION SUBMISSION AND REVIEW4. Those willing to enter RAMEC-USU master course "Applied economics" must pass a competition consisting of two stages: selection is made on the basis of submitted documents and exams passed. 5. Submission of documents for initial selection will be conducted annually from March 1 to May 30 at RAMEC-USU, Lenina av. 51, Ekaterinburg, 620083. 6. For initial selection the applicants must provide the following documents:
7. Applicants are informed about initial selection results in written form before July 1. Documents sent for review will not be returned. 8. The applicants who passed initial selection on the basis of documents sent can take exams. In order to do that they have to submit the following documents from July 1 to July 15 to the RAMEC-USU Selection Committee:
9. Exams take place between July 16 to July 30 by Discipline Commissions the structure and members of which are approved by the USU rector's order. 10. At the second stage of selection the applicants for RAMEC-USU master courses "Applied economics" must pass the following entrance exams:
11. The program of entrance exams must be approved by RAMEC-USU director by request of relevant Discipline Commission heads. This information must be spread among applicants no later than May 30. 12. Entrance exam in mathematics is conducted in a written format. It lasts 2 hours. Maximum number of scores - 10. Those applicants who have state diplomas of excellence after graduating from Department of mathematics and mechanics of physics do not have to pass exam in mathematics. 13. Entrance exam in mathematics consists of written text in TOEFL format and estimated according to 10 scores grade and the following oral interview with the mark passed or not passed. The exam lasts for 2 hours. Maximum number of scores for exam is 10. Applicants with official certificate received not more than two years ago on passing TOEFL exam with not less than 173 computer testing scores or 500 scores of paper testing; or Cambridge ESOL Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) - ALTE Level 4 (C1) are freed from passing exam. English-language native speakers also do not have to past the test. 14. Entrance exam in economics consists of a test and an essay on modern economic problems. The questions in the test may be formulated as concrete tasks requiring formal analysis. The exam in economics lasts for 2 hours. Maximum number of scores - 10. Marks "2" and below are considered unsatisfactory. Those applicants who have state diplomas of excellence after graduating from Department of economics do not have to pass exam in mathematics. 15. During exams intercourse between students is prohibited, as well as using teaching and reference sources and leaving the class. 16. Applicants missing exams without proper justification or receiving unsatisfactory mark are not allowed to pass the following exams, taken out from competition and can not be enrolled to RAMEC-USU. Missing exam because of illness must be proven with relevant medical document. In case of inability to be present at exam the supplicant must inform Selection Committee about it in writing or by phone before the beginning of the exam. If it is not done the RAMEC-USU Selection Committee will not accept the medical documents and the applicant will not be allowed to pass exam later. All the complaints will be reviewed by the Selection Committee in an individual basis. 17. Appellation on changing the mark at entrance exam must be submitted by the applicant to the Selection Committee at the day of announcing results of written test or at the day of passing oral exam. The complaint is reviewed by the Selection Committee with the presence of an applicant. While making the decision only the correctness of evaluating the answer is considered. The applicant will not be asked any additional questions. The decision of the Selecting Committee is given in a form of a protocol and the applicant is informed about its results. 18. Selection is made according to the planned number of students; number of scores gained during entrance exams and required number of scores. If the number of scores is equal the preference will be given to those applicants who have demonstrated skills and inclinations to studying economics and are best prepared to studying at RAMEC-USU (those with higher scores in mathematics or having education in economics, etc) 19. For graduates of USU and other higher educational institutions with bachelor, specialist or master state diploma entering the third level professional educational program (master's courses) in new specialty (that is not analogous to previous education) successful passing exams in mathematics, English and economics proves their mastering the basic educational bachelor program in specialty 521600 "Economics". Master training program includes initial (preparatory) semester which allows for realization of courses in economics for future successful training at RAMEC-USU. During two years of study at master courses "Applied economics" students do not have additional plan of bachelor training in this field. 20. During entrance exams students from other cities are not provided with accommodation. 21. Order on enrolling students to RAMEC-USU master program "Applied economics" is published not later than 10 days before training process starts. 22.
